Basic standards, environment, health and services
Development of European standards that apply to the services offered by hearing aid professionals in their efforts to provide benefit for their clients.
An overview of methods and techniques for determination of the bio-based carbon content of solid, liquid and gaseous products, using the radiocarbon method. This includes sampling, pretreatment, calibration, reporting; determination of terms to be used in field of bio-based products, including horizontal aspects relevant for bio-based product standards; declaration and certification tools applicable to bio-based products.
Determination of perfluorooctanesulfonate (PFOS) in concentrated extracts from coated and impregnated solid articles, liquids and fire extinguishing foams using high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-tandemMS) or quadrupole mass spectrometry (LC-qMS).
The method is applicable for a concentration range for PFOS in the extract solution of 0,5 µg/l to 50 µg/l.
Elaboration of European standard(s) defining appropriate test methods for the emission evaluation of combustible air fresheners and similar products.
The proposed technical activity should focus its attention on the elaboration of three main European standards for:
• development of standardised test methods for the emissions resulting from the use of combustible air fresheners and similar products
• methodology for the assessment of test results and of acceptable emission limits
• appropriate information on emissions to be supplied by the manufacturer and distributor of combustible air fresheners and similar products to consumers.
Standardization in the field of reference criteria for Assistance Dog and Guide Dog Teams and mobility instructor essential competencies.

This BDS/TC is a mirror of the following European and international technical committees
Bio-based products
Bio-based products
i. Development of standards for bio-based products covering horizontal aspects. This includes consistent terminology, sampling, certification tools, bio-based content, application of and correlation towards life cycle analysis, sustainability criteria for biomass used and for final products, and aspects where further harmonization is needed on horizontal level; ii. Development of standards for bio-solvents, covering product functionality, biodegradability and, if necessary, product specific aspects not covered under i.

Emission safety of combustible air fresheners
Elaboration of European Standard(s) defining appropriate test methods for the emission evaluation of combustible air fresheners. The proposed technical activity should focus its attention on the elaboration of three main European Standards for: -development of standardised test methods for the emissions resulting from the use of combustible air fresheners -methodology for the assessment of test results and application of recommended emission limits -appropriate information on the safe use of the products related to the emissions to be supplied by the manufacturer and distributor of combustible air fresheners.

Biotechnology
Biotechnology
Standardization in the field of biotechnology, particularly in relation to food, pharmaceuticals and agriculture, to support the development of the industry as well as to provide a safety framework for workers, consumers and environment with four main tasks: - biotechnical research, development and analysis in laboratories; - performance criteria for equipment used in biotechnology, especially as regards the problems of cleanability, sterilizability and leaktightness; - large scale production operations; - release into the environment of genetically modified organisms.

Algae and algae products
Algae and algae products
Specification, classification, terminology and determination methods for algae (genera) and algae-based products immediately derived from or used in algae production processes. In addition, guidance on the specific application of algae products as feedstock or intermediates for energy and non-energy products may be developed. Where specific standards for properties (quality or determination) of such feedstock for a certain industry exist, these will be referenced and considered as beyond the scope of the committee. For the purpose of this committee algae and algae-based products (and their intermediates) are defined as algal biomass, algae extracts or purified compounds from algae, including photoautotrophic, autotrophic, mixotrophic and heterotrophic algae, harvested in the wild, or produced in open cultivation systems, as for example raceway ponds, lagoons and natural environment, and produced in closed systems, as for example photobioreactors, fermenters and other systems. For the purpose of this committee also Cyanobacteria are included, and Labyrinthulomycetes are also included because of the decision of the European Commission 2003/427/EC.
