This BDS/TC is a mirror of the following European and international technical committees
Cranes - Safety
Cranes - Safety
Development and maintenance of safety standards for the design, manufacture and information to be provided for the following products: 1. cranes (as defined in CEN/TC 147 Resolution 99); 2. equipment for the lifting of persons on/with certain cranes; 3. power driven winches and hoists, and their supporting structures; 4. hand-powered lifting machines; 5. non-fixed load lifting attachments; 6. manually controlled load manipulating devices. Exceptions are: - hoisting devices for gymnastic and playing field equipment; - robotic lifting machinery; - lifting attachments for the glass industry; - lifting machinery and attachments for medical use; - excavators used as cranes; - cable cranes.

Power-operated warehouse equipment
Power-operated warehouse equipment
Standardization in the field of safety of power-operated warehouse equipment. These are all types of storage and retrieval machines which are restricted to the rails on which they travel in- and outside the aisles and which store and retrieve as well as take into commission unit loads and/or long goods such as bar materials. Also included are the transfer equipment used to change between aisles, the horizontal or vertical carousels and the mobile storage racks

Cranes
Cranes
Standardization in the field of cranes and related equipment which suspend loads by means of a load-handling device, particularly in respect of terminology, load rating, testing, safety, general design principles, maintenance, operation and load lifting attachments.

Round steel link chains, chain slings, components and accessories
Round steel link chains, chain slings, components and accessories
Standardization in the field of: round steel link chains (excluding anchor chains and those used in mining); sling hooks; shackles, eyebolts, terminal links, joining links and terminal fittings for slings and other accessories. To deal with the following aspects of the above- mentioned items: terminology, material, dimensions and tolerances, basic design criteria, proof testing, working load, destructive and non-destructive tests relating to required mechanical properties, inspection, certification and marking. Excluded: anchor chains covered by ISO / TC 8; mining chains covered by ISO / TC 82.

Mobile cranes
Mobile cranes
Standardization of terminology, load rating, testing, safety, and general design principles of equipment and components used in the construction, inspection, maintenance and safe operation of mobile cranes.
O member
Tower cranes
Tower cranes
Standardization of terminology, graphical symbols, testing, safety, and general design principles of equipment and components used in the construction, erection/dismantling, inspection and maintenance of tower cranes. It also covers safe use of tower cranes. Note: In addition, ISO/TC 96/SC 7 was mandated by ISO/TC 96 to provide part 1 "General requirements/principles" applicable to all type of cranes for the following subjects: control layout and characteristics, cabins and control stations, access, guards and restraints.
O member
Terminology
Terminology
Standardization of the terms, definitions and graphical symbols common to all crane types. These terms, definitions and symbols cover every period of the crane life cycle â design, manufacturing, testing, use, operation, maintenance, repair and disposal. The aim of this work is to harmonize the terminology of standards, which are developed by other subcommittees of ISO/TC 96.
O member
Selection of ropes
Selection of ropes
Standardization of requirements for ropes, regardless of their material properties, used on cranes and lifting appliances as defined in ISO 4306-1. It includes but it is not restricted to: selection of rope minimum practical design factors types of spooling minimum strength requirement relevant criteria for drums and sheaves care, maintenance, inspection and discard criteria.
O member
Test methods
Test methods
Standardization of test methods and techniques to validate design features and safety requirements of cranes and accessories.
O member
Use, operation and maintenance
Use, operation and maintenance
Standardization of requirements for the safe use of cranes covering operations, maintenance, inspection and competence of persons.
O member
