The President’s Committee has established a new award called the ISO Prize. The ISO Prize will be awarded for the first time at the 2013 ISO General Assembly in Saint Petersburg.
The objective of the ISO Prize is to recognize an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the understanding or use of ISO standards in a way that has made a significant difference to addressing today's global challenges. These global challenges may be technological, economic and/or societal. A leader in business, government or academia from outside the ISO community will be rewarded. The target group is people who do not work within ISO technical committees or national mirror committees and who do not work for the ISO Central Secretariat or our members.
The prize is:
Travel and accommodation to the ISO General Assembly where the winner will receive the award and give a guest lecture on the subject for which he/she was given the award, and
20 000 Swiss Francs to research or finance the implementation of an ISO standard in a way that clearly addresses economic, environmental and/or societal challenges.
